🎉 Congratulations to Patrick Amenatave Vakasavuwaqa Tamaicakai! 🎉

DevNet is delighted to congratulate Patrick Amenatave Vakasavuwaqa Tamaicakai on receiving the DevNet Postgraduate Development Field Research Award 2026.

Patrick hails from the village of Raranibulubulu, in the district of Labasa, Macuata Province, Fiji. He has an academic background and professional experience in Fiji’s social and political landscape.

Patrick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Geography and a Postgraduate Diploma in Gender Studies from the University of the South Pacific. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Health Research at Victoria University of Wellington.

His thesis focuses on Na Vakabula Vanua – bridging iTaukei governance and public health. His research examines the role of the Great Council of Chiefs and iTaukei governance systems in breaking the culture of silence and addressing the social stigma surrounding HIV cases among the iTaukei population in Fiji.
